Happy Happy

YES!!!! I survived Christmas but barely. I decided to make a prime rib this year and it only took 2 hours more to cook than what the recipe called for. DH (dear hubby for those who aren't up on the computer lingo) and I discovered after we took the rib out, was that the meat thermometer was broken! Of course me being the brilliant gracious host that I am I had to invite everyone to come over earlier than the slotted 2pm time because I thought that everything was going to be ready early. So after trying to convice everyone to please eat all the appetizers and everyone kept delcaring that they were waiting for dinner to eat, I loudly exclaimed that I would NOT be doing Christmas next year.

P.S. Hubby just read over my shoulder and thought DH stood for dickhead!!!

Here are some of the pictures.

Who Needs Eggnog?

This is how I'll be spending my Christmas Eve. Snuggled up in bed with a good book and a nice cup of Nyquil. After being sick for 3 weeks with a sore throat and sinus infection, I thought that being away from the kiddos would make me healthy. Nope, try again. Merry fricking Christmas!

Almost 1 Year

I haven't posted in a while because I just started working full-time as a kindergarten teacher. I love my job and will be posting some pictures of my classroom really soon.

The reason for this post is because I am feeling sad. Fall is my favorite time of year and Halloween is my favorite holiday. Jerry loves Halloween too. I am in charge of decorating the inside of our house, all cute and pretty and Jerry gets the outside. Anyway, as we were shopping for Halloween decorations today, I started feeling really sad. I remember this time last year telling Jerry that it would be our last Halloween without a child and how much fun we would have this year taking our son/daughter trick or treating.

So here we are, getting close to our LID of October 31st and we are not even close to a referral. The soonest it looks like we will get a referral is in February of 07 IF and that's a big if China doesn't decide to slow the process down even further. Sometimes, this process really sucks.

Happy Birthday to You

We went to Laughlin for dad's birthday this past weekend. All of us except for dear hubby who was more than happy to stay home with the dog. If you ever feel like making yourself crazy, lock yourself in a car for 4.5 hours with 4 family members. I did come home with money in my wallet so I guess it was worth it. :)

Gotta love that face

Having a jolly old time

My Dear Aunt Dunet

I'm sorry for having such a downer blog lately but my Aunt Dunet passed away recently. I was lucky enough to go back east this summer and visit with her for one last time. Aunt Du is going to be greatly missed and is forever in our hearts.

Two Years

Our lives go on without you but nothing is the same
We have to hide our heartaches when someone speaks your name
Sad are the hearts that love you
Silent the tears that fall
Living our lives without you is the hardest part of all
You did so many things for us
Your heart was kind and true
And when we needed someone, we could always count on you
The special years will not return, when we were all together
But with the love within our hearts, you will walk with us forever

Forever in our hearts

I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane

I haven't posted for a while because I have been depressed and pissed off about the referral wait time. Being the person I am, I decided to make lemons out of lemonade. Wait, that's not right! I mean lemonade out of lemons. Anyway, since it will be forever until we travel to China, we are going to spend all of our money now and take a trip to Maui. There is nothing better than wallowing in self pity while sitting on the beach with the warm sun on your face, and an alcoholic beverage in your hand. Even though I don't really drink or lay out anymore, I might make an exception this time around. I will post pictures when we return but for now, I will post pictures that you find on the Internet that are probably doctored and fake just to lure the average tourist like you and I in.

Here is a far away picture of our hotel. The beach is supposed to be great for snorkeling.

The pool and hotel in the background.

One of the many beaches I hope to get lost on.

One is the loneliest number

Here is the one picture, yes, the one picture that I took at Easter. Jerry is getting the ham ready for the BBQ while Wrigley lovingly looks on. Oh, who are we fooling?! Wrigley is hoping that Jerry drops the ham on the floor.

Long Time, No Post

Holy crap!!!!! I can't believe it's been more than a month since I've posted anything. A lot has happened in that month though. Jerry has gotten a new job and will be working for a new city. He is sad to be leaving his old job, but this is what he has worked for. Within that same week, I also got a new job. I will be working at a small private school next year as a kindergarten teacher. I am so excited to have my own classroom and I love teaching kindergarten. I have been long term subbing in kindergarten this past month, so that is why this blog has suffered. On a sad note, China has slowed down their referrals so we probably won't be seeing a referral until Oct. 06 when we were hoping for one in July.

Here is the latest picture of the babie's room. Doesn't it look lovely?! We haven't had time to work on it lately and somehow it's turning back into a storage room.

Here is a testament to how little time we've had lately. The crib that I bought two months ago, is still sitting in the garage. Doesn't it make a great shelf!

Now that's what I call camping!

This past weekend, Jerry and I took some clothes, food, the satellite dish, the dog, and went camping. Satellite dish???!!! Yes, I stopped what "normal" people would call camping years ago. Those were the days when Jerry and I were first dating and I was a rough it type of girl. Ok, who am I kidding, I have never been a rough it type anything and we only slept in a tent for one camping trip. Anyway, here are some pictures of our fun time.

Here is a picture of our trailer that we bought last year.

Jerry is putting up the satellite dish. He swears everytime that he won't bring it but......

Luxury camping at it's best!

This is what we woke up to every morning. If you look hard enough, you can see the ocean.

Another beautiful SoCal sunset.

One footstep begins a journey; or is it a journey starts with one footstep; no, maybe it's a thousand journeys begins with one footstep; oh who cares!

So by now, everybody knows about the plight with the changing table. After hemming and hawing; hours spent pouring over the computer; dragging Jerry around around day in and day out to the baby stores; blood, sweat, and tears shed; we FINALLY or I should say I have finally found "the" changing table and crib. Let me say that we haven't taken the items out of the box yet so my statement might change but for now, here are pictures of what our child will be sleeping in and pooping on.

Easy come.........easy go

This past weekend, Jerry and I decided to start the nursery. While Jerry painted (he wouldn't let me to touch the stuff) I put together the changing table. Sounds easy enough considering the name of the product is called Simplicty. WRONG!!!!! The following is what ensued.

Me getting ready to tackle the project

Wrigley decided he wanted to help

One and half hours later, and this is what the changing table looked like. Of course I am nowhere to be seen!

Jerry came home and tried to put the table together

This is Jerry taking the table apart.(he is now in his pajamas) The shelves on the stupid thing would not line up no matter how hard we tried. Hence the table is being shipped back to the store. Like I said, easy come easy go!!!

My present to Jerry

Before Jerry and I got married, my old room had a huge walk in closet. After Jerry and I moved into our house, I used the closet in our bedroom and Jerry used the one in the spare bedroom. Last week Jerry cleaned out the closet so we could get started on the nursery. Yeah right! Anyway, his new closet became the garage. He whined and whined about it and me being the sweet wife that I am decided to give him a present for Valentine's Day. Here it is.

I decided to give Jerry 1/2 of the closet in our bedroom. The beauty of it all is I gave away a bunch of clothes to charity which means that I will have to go out and buy some new ones!

Here is Jerry's old closet. Notice the broom duster in the background.

Things NOT to say to an adoptive parent

Tanya's top 6 list of things NOT to say to an adoptive parent. I am sure there are more, but this is all I can think of for now.

6. How much did he/she cost?
5. Didn't you want to have your own children?
4. His/her mother must be Chinese.
3. His/her father must be Chinese.
2. There are so many children in America that need homes why not adopt from here?

And the number 1 thing that you should absolutely, positively NEVER say is .........

1. I know somebody that adopted and they got pregnant, that will happen to you.

Adoption Timeline

May 05~ attend adoption seminar and decide to go with China.

June 05~ Start homestudy This is where the social worker evaluates you and your husband. Social worker comes to house on first visit so cleaned like a maniac and made sure the dog smelled good.

June 05~ Apply to adoption agency and tell them about all the debt you have.

June 05~ Physical examination, fingerprinting, police letter of clearance, etc., etc., etc.

July 05~ Social worker goes on vacation. Go to immigration and turn in application for adoption.

August 05~ Homestudy FINALLY done!!!!

August 05~ Wait for approval of adoption by immigration. Better get used to six week wait for approval as this is just the start of waiting.

September 05~ Start student teaching, have no life. Oh wait, I was talking about adoption. What I mean is adoption approval finally comes from immigration. Go to AAA and get all documents notarized. Go to the county to verify that the notary does exist and is a true notary. Go to Secretary of State to verify that the county was not lying. Go to Chinese Consulate to verify that the state was not lying. Send documents to agency.

October 05~ Dossier which is all of the paperwork goes to China.

October 31 05~ Happy Halloween, our log-in-date which means we are paper pregnant.

Referral for a child will come according to how long it takes for China to process paperwork for babies. The current wait is around 9-10 months so we hope to get a referral in July 05 and travel 5-8 weeks after that. Currently China has only done referrals for people with log-in-dates through May 12th 2005our lid is Oct. 31. You do the math.

We can officially say...................

We are expecting!!!!!!

Welcome to Our Blog

This blog was created so friends and family can keep track of us on our journey to China. I will periodically be posting pictures (if I can figure out how) and giving updates on what's going on in our lives. Happy reading!
