Gracie got to go swimming for the first time last week. She loved it! She was hesitant at first but then she started splashing around. I put her in a floatie and she did great. I think we might have a future olympian on our hands. Thank you Melissa for inviting us over!

I Like to Eat, Eat, Eat, Apples and Bananas!

What are Mom and Dad doing?
Hmmm, this looks interesting
I think I like this!!!
As Rachael Ray would say, Yummo!!!!!!!

The pediatrician told us to start giving Gracie baby food. He told us to start off with one thing at a time and go from there. Gracelyn loves eating apples and bananas, sweet potatoes, and oatmeal with apples but is not so crazy about any poultry. I wonder if we have a vegetarian on our hands?!

Auntie Jill brought me an Elmo and Elmo book

She was so nice and read it to me

At the end, an Elmo popped up right at me!

Just then, Wrigley came along and I got distracted

I love petting Wrigley

Today was Jerry's first day back to work. Gracie and I did great although I was a bit nervous. Gracelyn took a nap this morning for about 25 minutes and then was up the rest of the day until about 3:30 when she fell asleep. She played quietly on the floor while I cleaned up the kitchen a bit. I still haven't been able to get to the rest of the house just yet. In the afternoon, we went to lunch with Auntie Jill and Melissa and then visited Melissa's dog Jerry. (yes, the same name as my hubby) Gracie loved going to lunch and seeing the dog. Later this week, we might go over the Melissa's to go swimming. Jerry came home early from work and I could tell he really missed his daughter. He did get to feed Gracelyn and she gave a very loud burp and fart when she was done!!! Like father, like daughter! :)

Happy 4th of July!!!! Yesterday we went over to Uncle Peter's and Aunt Debbie's house. This day was extra special as it was Gracie's first 4th of July. Gracie loved Uncle Peter and couldn't get enough of him. He thought she was pretty special too.

Last night, I decided to break out my adoption book regarding sleep issues and got some great advice so when Gracie woke up around 11:45ish, I followed the book and Gracie went back to sleep after about an hour and didn't wake up until I went in as 8am this morning!!! This is truly a miracle. Today Jerry and I bought a CD player that has a repeat button on it so when Gracelyn goes to sleep tonight, the lullibies will play all night long. I pray that tonight goes as well as last night did!

Settling In

We seem to be settling down a bit, but have yet to establish a routine. It seems like this sleeping thing is getting us all messed up! Last night, Gracie did a tiny bit better. She went to bed about 8pm, woke up at 9pm for a feeding since she only had 3 that day, fell asleep at 9:3opm and woke up at 1am. She was only up until 4am which is good!!! I never thought I would say that. Gracie then went to sleep until 10am which is when mommy woke up and woke Gracie. :) Suffice to say, our schedule is just a teeny bit off.

We have now gone to Babies R Us for the 3rd day in a row. I now find myself staring at other people's strollers and cart boppies, looking for cool items that I can buy for Gracie! People probably think I am crazy. Before I could have cared less but now, the most important thing is keeping my baby happy!

Gracie's favorite froggy toy. She eyed it in her room and took to it immediately. When Jerry showed it to her, Gracelyn got a huge smile on her face.

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!! I put this shirt on Gracie especially for Jerry's birthday.

We Are Home!!!!!!

We finally arrived home yesterday at around 2pm. The plane ride was really long and felt like forever, especially to Jerry who did not get to take an Ambien. Gracelyn did great on the plane and slept a lot of the way. She did so well, that at the end when she started crying, an older couple mentioned that they didn't even know we were travelling with an infant!!

When we got home, Jerry and I each took turns coming in and petting Wrigley before we brought Gracie in. He missed us a bunch. Gracelyn just loves and adores Wrigley and smiles huge and reaches out to touch him whenever she sees him. I'm not so sure the same love is there for her from Wrigley but he's curious and likes to lick Gracie's feet!

Last night was very rough as Gracelyn was still on China time and woke up around 12:30am. Jerry, Wrigley, and I all got up and tried several things to get Gracelyn back to sleep, including Benadryl which had the opposite affect!!! She finally went down at around 4am and awoke around 9am. We tried to keep her up all day so she would sleep tonight and so far, it seems to be working. Poor Wrigley, he thought he was getting a midnight walk.

Today, Jerry and I went to Babies R Us and bought a bunch of items for Gracelyn including a Diaper Champ as Gracie has had up to 7 poopy diapers in one day!! We also got a jumper, activity mat, more bottles, and other items. Our house is already a total disaster and there are baby things everywhere. I started laundry at 4pm this afternoon and am only on the second load! I can't believe how fast the time has flown. I also can't believe how I go to start something and get so distracted and end up not finishing my task. But, I would not trade this feeling for the world.

P.S.: We gave Gracie a bath in her new tub that Auntie Jill bought her and Gracie loved it!!! Thanks Jill.
