A Nice Surprise

Tuesday afternoon, Gracie and I came home to find a surprise package sitting on our porch. It was to Gracie, from our friend Natalie who lives in CO. We met Natalie and her family at the LAX Airport last year, when we were all flying to Beijing together to tour for a couple of days before we adopted our daughters. We became instant friends and had so much fun while we were in China. I still laugh at some of the antics that happened during our trip last year.

Anyway, Gracie was so excited that the package was for her and couldn't wait to open it. Inside, there was sunglasses, crayons, a coloring book, etc. Among the items was a very cute outfit for Gracie. I dressed her in it the next day and put the bow in her hair and Gracie looked adorable. Thank you Natalie for sending the package as it was very sweet and generous of you.

Gracie's hair is pretty plastered down in this picture. It was so hot on Tuesday and the first thing that happens when it's hot, is Gracie's head starts to sweat badly.

Isn't the outfit darling?

Dance Fever

The quality isn't that great on this video. I tried uploading it to you.tube but you.tube isn't taking my videos for some reason so I switched over to google. I am going to have to learn to use the "grown-up" video camera so I can get better quality.

Happy Earth Day!!

Today is Earth Day and it was beautiful outside here in sunny SoCal so we decided to celebrate by spending some time out in our backyard. Gracie loves going outside and if I ask her if she wants to go out, she runs to the back door. Lately, she has been trying to open the door but thank goodness she hasn't reached that point yet.

You know, I had been meaning to post about some products that I just started using and now is the perfect opportunity to do so. When we brought Gracie home, I became more aware of our environment and how Gracie and Gracie's children will be alive way after I am gone, so I decided that it was time for a change and switched to earth friendly cleaning products and diapers. When I was at the store, I came across a company called 7th Generation. I like their cleaning products and especially love their diapers as they are actually better than Pampers or Huggies! They hold a ton of liquid and my mother-in-law, even tested them by pouring water into them and the diaper held. They don't have fancy animals on them and are plain brown, but who cares. The cleaning products are sold all over and you can find the diapers and wipes at Babies R Us and other places. Here is the website, in case anyone is interested http://www.seventhgeneration.com/

Disneyland Again!!

One of the advantages to living where we do, is having Disneyland so close by. My friend Karen and I, planned a trip last Friday with our girls. It was very hot but a lot of fun. The girls both got Minnie Mouse ears with their names engraved. The ears haven't changed much from the original kind that you could buy many years ago except they come in pink now. We also bought the girls ice cream which they thoroughly enjoyed as you'll see in the picture below and we snuck some ourselves. Everytime I go to Disneyland, I always seem to have a great time and I can't wait for my next trip back. I am so glad that season passes are reasonable in price and Gracie can go more often then I did as a child.

No matter what I did, Gracie would not look up for a picture. She is wearing her new sunglasses.

Don't the girls look cute in their mouse ears?

Gracie's Stats

Gracie went to the doctor yesterday for her 18 month check-up. The doctor said Gracie is right on track. The only thing I was concerned about, is Gracie's speech. I had the doctor listen to a couple of words Gracie says and the doctor felt that Gracie's speech was a bit garbled so we are going to have her ears checked, just to make sure everything is okay.

Here are Gracie's measurements:

Weight: 23.8

Height: 33.5 inches~ Gracie has grown 4 inches since January, which is quite a bit! I didn't believe that she was that tall so I had Jerry re-measure her today and yep, that is correct. When I checked the growth charts, Gracie is almost off the chinese growth charts as she is in the 97th percentile for height. On the american charts, she is in the 90th percentile for height which is still pretty high. For weight, she is in the 90th percentile on the Chinese charts and 40th on the american charts. It looks like we are going to have a tall girl on our hands, probably taller than mommy and daddy. We always get comments from other asian people in our area, saying that Gracie is big for being Chinese.

Gracie has been saying two new words in the last couple days, one being hello. It's very cute because she walks around with her hand up to her ear saying hallllooo. The other word I taught her on Monday, was Grandpa. She picked it up right away and said bampa. When we picked dad up, I had her say it for him and he said that Gracie is now back in the will!!! Oh, I also swear she said dirty diaper today, loud and clear.

Happy 18 Month Birthday Gracie

Today, Gracie girl is 18 months old. It's amazing how time flies. She is feeling much, much better and I want to thank everyone for the well wishes. Jerry and I, unforunately, caught her bronchitis and cold so our whole family is on antibiotics. Hey, those that are on meds together, stay together! (It's really supposed to be, those that pray together, stay together) Just a little humor on my part. I also want to send a special thanks to Gracie's grandma June, for watching Gracie on Friday while Jerry and I took a very much needed trip to the doctor and a nap. Tuesday, Gracie has her 18 month check-up and I will report back her stats. The pictures below, were taken a couple of weeks ago. Jerry bought the hat in China for $1. Jerry loves straw hats and he had to have it. Gracie has suddenly become obsessed with the hat and makes Jerry and I put it on over and over again. We finally put the hat on her and were able to take some quick pictures.

Poor little Gracie has been so sick. It started off with a fever on Friday and by Saturday, she was coughing and sneezing. We took her to the doctor who diagnosed Gracie with a double ear infection and bronchitis. My little girl has been such a trooper and you would have never known she was that sick. Gracie is now on 3 types of medications and a nasal spray. She has been so good at taking her medicine and not being whiney at all. She seems to have felt better this afternoon so I am praying that she continues to recover.

Gracie felt so badly that she refused to eat without her bear sitting next to her. She also wouldn't eat without holding onto her blankie!
