More CO Pictures

Sorry it took so long for me to post. Last week, I was really busy and then I ended up getting a cold and did not feel like doing anything for 3 days. I went away for the weekend for some much needed rest and am feeling a lot better and more like myself. Once again, I have found myself behind in my postings. I swear, I don't know if I am ever going to catch up.

Guess what tomorrow is?!! The first of October, yay. It's in the 80s here and I am very bummed because I really want my fall type weather, not summer. Gracie's birthday is fast approaching and I can't believe that she is going to be 2. She has grown so much since we've been home and her language has really exploded. She repeats or tries to repeat almost everything we say and has had 2-3 word phrases for a couple of months now. Yesterday, I taught her to say trick or treat in early preperaton for my favorite holiday. A couple of weeks ago, we went to the store and bought Gracie's costume. She picked between two and looks really cute in it. I won't tell you what it is but will post a picture of her in part of the costume so you can guess what she'll be.

Enjoy the pictures!

We went to a place called Garden of the Gods that was beautiful and had different types of rock formations

A cute picture of Gem and M

One of the few family pictures that I love

Jerry cracked me up when he saw this picture because he was giving himself a pat on the back for taking such a great picture because the whole rock formation was in view. I then pointed out to him how he was in the picture and it was I, not he that had taken it!

Gem and M were so excited to see the formation in this rock

Colorado Pictures!!

A few weeks ago, we went to visit our friends in CO. Gracie and B are from the same orphanage in China and the Bs were in our travel group. G and I met on a message board before we travelled and didn't know we would be in the same group! We keep in contact via email everyday and she has became a wonderful friend. I really wish we lived closer to each other.

We had a really great time in CO and Gracie had so much fun playing with the Bs children. We did tons of things and it took me a week to recover from the trip. We miss our friends dearly and can't wait until our next visit with each other.

Nothing like a healthy hamburger from McDonald's before take-off

So excited to be on the plane

The not so exciting part. When we were to land in Denver, there was a huge lightening storm and the dark cloud was by our window. We could see lightening from the plane window and the turbulance was bad. We had to circle for 15 minutes before we could land. Poor Gracie, didn't like it one bit and everytime Jerry tried to open the window shade, Gracie said noooo, and would cover her head with her blankie.

Gracie and B having fun playing the piano together

We finally got to visit our adoption agency CCAI who is located in CO. On their walls, they have tons and tons of pictures of children they have placed. You can see some of the pictures in the background.

We got a grand tour of the facility from the owner himself Josh. We also met his wife Lily. Here is the very expensive bronze statue ( I won't say how much) that was donated by a board member. I think it's cute how Gracie is holding the girl's hand.

Kicking back

M, G's son was so great with Gracie. He kept the girls entertained and Gracie loved him.

M made crowns for the girls

Don't worry, not that you would but I have more pictures to post. I didn't want to wait forever for them to upload so I am going to post a little at a time.

My friend Natalie recently sent me this picture. It's a picture of Gracie and Natalie's daughter Elliana who are from the same orphanage. We were riding in a taxi and Connie, Natalie's friend must have turned around from the front seat and snapped the shot. I don't even remember it being taken, but then who would after the 500th picture. I don't know if the girls remember being in the same orphanage together, but by looking at this picture, it definitely seems like they do.

Country in the City

On Friday, we started a new class through our community recreation program. The class is called "Fun with Horses" and every Friday for four weeks, the kids get to feed chicks, learn about different farm animals, do arts and crafts, and get a pony ride at the end of each class. Gracie loves animals and pony rides inparticular, so I decided to sign her up for the class. My friend Karen and her daughter Kailee, also attend. It's really great for the girls to learn about a real farm, right in the heart of the city, next to the freeway!!! Gracie was a little nervous and wanted me to hold her for most of the class but she did pet the chicks, feed the ponies and lovedthe pony ride at the end. I don't have any pictures of the pony ride, but hopefully next week, I will have some.

I also have lots of Colorado pictures that I need to post, I still need to go through and decide which ones to put on the blog.

Today was our court date for our re-adoption. It is not a requirement to re-adopt in CA but in order for Gracie to have a CA birth certificate and for inheritance purposes, we went ahead and paid the $20 to have it done. It was a fairly painless process and in about 12 months, we will receive her new certificate. The judge was really nice and the process went quickly. It was cute because Gracie kept saying no, everytime the bailiff, turned picture taker would snap a shot. When the judge asked if anybody had any objections to the adoption, he turned to Gracie and said, okay, now you can answer! Of course she said no!! So, Gracie is officially ours for the second time and we can now say that we don't have any more requirements left for Gracie's adoption.

Swearing to tell the whole truth and nothing but

This reminds me of signing paperwork in China for Gracie's adoption except Gracie is awake, bigger, and we aren't in China!

We all look super happy in this picture except Ms. Gracie

Woo hoo, it's over

When we got home, Gracie decided to put my shoes on

Can you believe she got them on correctly and could walk in 2 inch heels?

This Time Last Year

I was going through some pictures and I came upon these that were taken around this time last year. I can't believe how little Gracie looks in them. I see her every day and it's amazing to me, how much her little face has changed. One thing that hasn't changed is her cute little chubby cheeks and rosebud lips.

On another note, tomorrow we are going to Colorado to visit our friends G and T and their kids. B is from the same orphanage that Gracie is and we are very excited to see them. On Sunday, we are also going to go and visit our friend Natalie and her two girls. Elliana is also from Gracie's orphanage. It's going to be a fun and special trip as I think it's so important for the girls to keep in touch as they have known each other since birth. I won't be taking the laptop but when I come back, will have lots of fun pictures to post.

Look at that flexibility

If you click on the picture, you can see Gracie's one lone tooth. It's so cute!

I was taking these pictures for a possible Christmas card cover for last year

Too cute helping Jerry file!

Happy September

Yay, September is finally here! I am so happy because fall is coming and my favorite holiday, Halloween is just around the corner. I love when the air is crisp and the sun is shining. Where I live, we don't really have a lot of trees with changing leaves and it does stay hot through October but on those rare days when fall shows it's beautiful head, I am as happy as can be.

I've also changed my blog again. I've decided that I am going to change it every month, to coincide with whatever holiday is coming up. I am never satisfied with how it looks though and wish I were more artistic and better with Photoshop.

In the pictures below, Gracie is having fun outside with her blanket. Sometimes in the morning, when I go outside to throw away the trash, Gracie will follow me and play around for a little while in her pajamas in the backyard. This particular day was one of those days and Gracie kept taking the blanket and throwing it over her head. She loves to put things on her head, especially her blanket and tries to walk around the house. Unfortunately, she often runs into the walls but she never hurts herself.

Looking at herself in the window

I told you she likes to put things on her head. She emptired her book box and stuck it over her noggin.
