Park Days

You should now be able to view the video. Sorry! :)

First off, Happy Chinese New Year to everyone! We didn't get to celebrate at all in our house as if you recall, last Friday I wasn't feeling well. That not feeling well ended up me being in bed for almost 4 days straight. I literally could not think of food or even eat anything as I was nauseas and had the big D. I tried to force down what I could which wasn't very much. I went to the doctor and found out I had some really long sounding viral name which is basically an inflammation of my stomach walls, intestines, etc. Thank goodness I have started to feel much better and can now eat solid foods. I'm bummed though because I bought Gracie a traditional Chinese dress in China, hoping that she could wear it one day and I think she would now be able to fit into it and she didn't even get to wear it. I might put her in it and take a picture of her for my next blog header.

A few weeks ago, the weather was very warm, almost like today again. :( We took advantage of the new toddler seat that Jerry installed on my bike and went to a park by my house. The park is awesome and is 4 square miles on each side. They have duck ponds, playgrounds and all sorts of things. Gracie had a lot of fun riding behind Jerry on the bike and kept saying wee, everytime he would go down a little hill. We had a great day and the only bummer part was when the chain broke on the bike Jerry was riding, halfway back to the car but he was able to fix it.

After we got home, Gracie was extremely tired so I put her down for a nap. She never goes to sleep right away and usually chats up a storm to herself and plays around before falling asleep. I heard her screaming I mean singing at the top of her lungs and had to capture it on video as it was so cute and cracking me up. At the end of the pictures, you will hear Gracie's version of Twinkle Little Star or Tinkle Tinkle as she sings it. She actually sings it much more clearly now, along with her other songs and the theme to "Elmo's World" which Jerry taught her.

Random Rainy Day

Today, our weather changed dramastically. It went from the high 80s these past couple of weeks, to rain. I don't mind at all as I love the rain and cooler weather, better than the high temps. Between the wet weather, and me suffering from some type of stomach virus, Gracie and I stayed in today. I decided that it was a good time to post more of those misc. shots you just don't know what to do with. Some are from December, which is why Gracie is wearing Santa clothes and one is from today, from when I was in the bathroom and Gracie decided to get into the pen cup and paint her cheeks and toe with a highlighter!

Gracie loves books and I love the sunglasses propped on her head, just like mommy does

Hello dahling

Gotta love the combo of Santa pjs, bucket, hat, and kitty boots

Kicking back watching tv

Gracie was never into stuffed animals that much in the past but recently decided that she couldn't live without all of them. Here is a picture of her hugging her favorite ones. Now, she loves Mickey the most and has to sleep with him every night and take Mickey everywhere.

My princess wearing her crown backwards

Jerry and I crack up when Gracie struts around the house in these shoes. It's amazing they stay on her feet, and she can even run in them!

Yep, while mommy wasn't feeling well, Gracie decided to paint her cheeks with highlighter

Lucky Mommy Club

Recently a group of my friends and I made a trip to Disneyland. All of our children are from China which makes the group even more special. We all met through various people, message boards, blogs etc. and we get along great. We have gone to Disneyland a couple of times already and have a blast each time we go. It's so neat to have a close knit group of ladies that I can talk to about adoption and other things and also for Gracie to grow up surrounded by children that come from the same circumstances that she did. I feel this is important, especially as she grows older.

I titled my post Lucky Mommy Club because when we were at Disneyland last Friday, we were talking about how people always tell us how lucky our children are. We were discusing how we say no, we are the lucky ones. From that, Karen one of the moms, came up with the name of our group which I love because it's so true. Anyway, the pictures are actually a combination from two playdates, one from the beginning of Jan. and one from last week. You'll be able to see which shots were from a few weeks ago as the kids are bundled up and most recently, they are wearing summer clothes as the weather has been in the 80s!! I really am trying hard to keep up with blogging but it seems like things have gotten so busy lately and don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Enjoy!!

Kailee's Birthday Party

Last weekend, was one of my friend's Karen's daughter's birthday party. Beautiful Kailee turned 3 and her party was at a place called My Gym. It was a very cool place to have a birthday party and sometime in the future, for one of Gracie's parties, I might have to "steal" the idea. The people that ran the party were fantastic and they helped with everything. All the kids had a blast there and Gracie loved the ball pit. They even had a mini zip line for the kids that looked so fun, I wanted to participate! We were sorry to see the party end. Happy Birthday again, cutie Kailee!!!

Ice Skating

This past Tuesday, Gracie started her ice skating lessons. We hadn't taken a community class in a long time and I thought this would be the perfect way to get some of that never ending energy out. I was a little nervous since she is only 2 but the lady who runs the program assured me that Gracie would be fine. I haven't skated in oh, forever so I wasn't even sure if I could still stand on skates and could just picture myself needing the lessons!

When Gracie saw the skates, she said boots then daddy's boots and was really excited. She tried standing up for the first time and plop, almost fell over. She then stayed on the bench next to me, while I laced my skates up. Then it was time for the lesson, drumroll please. It turns out, Gracie did pretty well for her first time on skates! Sasha our instructor from Russia (did you think we would have an ice skating instructor from anywhere else?) was really great with the kids and gave Gracie a crate to hold onto while skating. Gracie loved chasing the bubbles around that he blew for them to try and catch and she liked the ice in general.

At the end of the lesson, she was able to walk back to the lockers without holding my hand. Do we have a future Michelle Kwon on our hands, hee, hee? Oh, I didn't do so badly myself and was actually able to get a couple pictures AND video! I didn't even need the crate either. :)

Patiently waiting for her lesson

Happy New Year 2009

For New Year's Eve, we met my mom's group at Chuck E Cheese. Gracie had never been and it's been years since Jerry and I had gone. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as the Chuckie place that I remember was dark and anybody could go inside whether or not you had a child. I also remembered bad pizza. I was pleasantly surprised when we got inside and everything was lit up and not one dark area was to be had. One of the moms from our group whose husband is the GM got us free drinks, pizza, and tons of tokens.

Gracie had an okay time but had a double ear infection so she didn't smile in any of the pictures that I took. Of course my camera died halfway through so I wasn't able to get many pictures as Gracie felt better halfway through our time there and even managed to go on the monster truck ride twice and the simulated roller coaster 3 times.

This year, I have decided to make some resolutions. I haven't made them in a long time but I think I am going to turn a new leaf and really attempt to keep them this time around. We'll see how well I do. :) May everyone's 2009 be peaceful and prosperious.

Gracie wanted to go on this slide over and over
