Pickn' Strawberries

Last Saturday, Gracie and I went to a farm by our house and took a strawberry tour. The tour consisted of being pulled by a tractor while we sat in the back of a wagon and the tractor would stop every once in a while and we got to eat fresh organic fruits and veggies pulled directly from the fields. I actually learned a lot such as 90% of avocados come from CA which means I think those of us who live here should get a discount for those yummy things. :) At the end of the tour, we got to pick strawberries and eat as many as our tummys could hold. It was such a blast and Gracie kept saying more, more. She ate so many that as we were leaving, she let out a loud burp! I can't wait to go back for the watermelon tour!

Gracie tried the celery which surprised me as she doesn't care for celery

The carrots were my personal favorites

Baptism

Today was Gracie's baptism and our new member reception to our church. We have been attending our church for quite a while and love it! Our church is 125 years old and beautiful with a floor to ceiling pipe organ. It took us a while to become members because our church is of the Lutheran faith and I was baptized Catholic and felt like I was somehow betraying the Catholic religion. Growing up, I didn't really attend church and my parents allowed me to try out different churches with my friends but I really want Gracie to learn about God and the Bible and feel it's important for her to have some type of religious background. When she gets older, if she chooses to branch out to a different religion, then that is her choice but for now, I feel that it's up to Jerry and I to lead her in some type of direction.

During Gracie's baptism, I got really emotional and tears came to my eyes. It felt like such a special experience I just can't describe it. I didn't realize I would feel this way and somehow have a peace that I didn't quite have before. I thank God everyday for bringing Gracie into our lives and she really is such a special little girl, a pure gift from Heaven.

PS~ We don't have any pictures from the actual baptism as pictures weren't allowed to be taken.

Happy Easter

Today was a busy one for Gracie and I. While daddy was outside attempting to build our new patio cover, us girls dyed eggs and attempted to make cupcakes. Gracie is totally into Easter this year and got very excited when I told her we were going to dye some eggs. All morning she kept asking when she got to color the eggs. Gracie did a great job and didn't crack one egg, unlike our incident last year where they all fell on the floor and broke. Gracie even made special eggs for daddy and Uncle Peter.

After the eggs, mommy decided it was time to make cupcakes for Easter. While mixing the ingredients, I thought the batter looked pretty thick but thought nothing of it and kept whirling away. The batter still looked strange so I took a quick look at the box and sure enough, I forgot to add water! I quickly added it and thought everything was fine. Gracie even declared the cupcake mix as tasting yummy! Ha! When I took the cupcakes out of the oven, they proceeded to collapse into themselves so I had to throw them away and start all over again.

Right now, it is midnight and this bunny is tired and headed off to bed. Have a Happy Easter Everyone

The finished product, looking like they are about to drop out of the carton any minute. Even though Gracie isn't smiling, I like this picture of her. Below is the one where she is smiling.

While I was cleaning the dishes, Gracie jumped on the chair and said ta da. I swear that kid is going to be a performer.

Easter Picnic

Last weekend, my mom's group had an Easter picnic. It was so much fun and each us of parents brought plastic filled eggs so the kids could go "hunting". This was the first time that Gracie has looked for eggs and she really enjoyed it. She also liked the cookies, chips, cupcakes, fruitpunch, etc...!!!!! She ended up with the cute little punch face that only kids can pull off.

After the picnic, Gracie and mommy were exhausted so when we got home, we both took a very long nap. Thank you to all of our OCAM friends for organizing the picnic.

I love this picture!

I was fooling around with the color and thought this effect looked cool

Hopping Along

We took Gracie to see the Easter Bunny on Sunday. It's the same bunny that we saw last year but I guess the economy has even gotten to our fuzzy friend as they wouldn't let us take pictures with our own camera without forking out the minimum fee for a picture which was $19. Last year, they were allowing people to take pictures but we had purchased an item anyway and I believe the price was only around $15 bucks for the picture. Oh well, I can't deny my girl the bunny. I posted a comparison picture from last year to this year. Last year, Gracie looks like she has such a baby face. She was 1.5 years old. This year's picture, my baby looks a lot older but still has that precious smile on her face. I'm glad some things haven't changed! At least she has a little bit more hair now, yay!!! :)
