Jersey Trip

In July, Gracie, my dad and I took a trip back east. Almost all of my family lives in NJ as my dad was the rebel of the family back in the early 70s and moved my mom and 2 brothers to CA before I was born. I try to take Gracie back as often as possible as I want her to know her entire family. We had a lot of fun and Gracie just loves her uncles, aunts and cousins. She still talks about them all the time. We did a lot of things while we were in NJ and even got to visit Sesame Place which Gracie absolutely loved! I miss my family everyday and think of them often.

Gracie was always getting into Kayla and Michelle's things but they were so sweet and let her play with all their stuff.

Big Changes for Mommy

I like the title of my post because we have some big things coming up and they mostly effect me. :) One of them is the fact that we went out Sunday and bought Gracie a toddler bed. We decided that for the transition, it was best to change the bed asap instead of waiting until her little brother arrived. I originally had said that I wanted to keep Gracie in her crib as long as possible and I really did but once we got our referral for Brennan, and figured everything out, it made more sense to give Brennan Gracie's crib which does convert to a toddler bed and changing table and buy her a toddler bed and bookcase.

We made a big deal about it and allowed Gracie to pick out the bed (we gave her a choice of 2 that we liked but she doesn't know that) and Jerry put it together last night. I thought I would be okay, I really did and was all excited but once the bed was done and in her room, I started to feel a little sentimental about my baby growing up and all that stuff. It was funny too because when we asked Gracie if she liked her new bed, she said yes but I want my crib and where did it go?!

Needless to say, Gracie slept like a champ last night, mommy not so much as I had visions of her popping out of the bed now that she has the freedom and coming into our room. When I did hear her wake up in the middle of the night, she did the usual thing and put her toy on and went back to sleep. This morning, she actually didn't get out of bed until her usual time of 8am so that was a relief.

It's only the first day so we'll see how it goes. I am still feeling a bit sad about my little girl but I know in my heart that she will ALWAYS be my baby.

Vacations and Stuff

This summer we have been super busy and I can't believe how fast it has flown by. In July, Gracie, my dad and I took a trip to NJ to visit family. A couple of weeks later, we all went camping to Northern CA. Between those two vacations, swimming, water parks, and hanging out with friends, September is almost here. At one point during the summer, I just put down my camera and did not take a lot of pictures nor felt like it, hence the blogging lag. Sometimes I feel like such a slave to that thing but hopefully I am slowly beginning to find my way back to loving it again. :) This coming fall promises to be full of new things with Gracie starting preschool hopefully in September and our good friends from CO coming to visit.

The pictures below are from our recent camping trip. The trip was not the best of ones with tons of things going wrong but I am trying to lift that black cloud and start fresh again. We haven't taken our trailer out in a long time and 7 days without tv was a long time for me but I was able to catch up on my reading and finish my book club read. We also thought of a name for our new son and I am pretty sure we are going to name him Brennan.

Vacations are nice but it's good to be home and I currently have remodeling some of our rooms on my mind. Nothing big but just making our house a home. When Jerry bought this house, it was always in the back of our minds to someday move so I didn't really put a lot of effort into decorating but currently with a new baby on the way, it just doesn't look like it's in the cards for us right now so I want to make this place as cozy as possible. I guess I should start with filling the picture frames with pictures!

Excited to be camping

Poor thing, she said to me, I tired and then proceeded to climb up on the chair and fell alseep in about a minute

Yosemite in the background. Notice the nice blanket Gracie is wearing for a shirt? Poor thing got car sick and threw up all over her dress so Jerry made a fashion statement for Gracie!

Gracie was the only one who caught a "fish"

Our last day in Tahoe, we went to Sand Harbor Beach which was absolutely gorgeous
